Madeleine has also spent many hours serving at the Daniel Rothman Religious School, helping with lessons about Jewish holidays and traditions. Madeleine shared, “This was so fulfilling and, while I hope to have taught the students at the Center a lot, they taught me a lot as well-about the Spanish language, dance, music, food, and more.” During the pandemic, Madeleine served as a tutor and eventually filled the role of Spanish teacher, creating and leading lessons to help improve high schoolers’ spelling and grammar. Madeleine remembers helping with art projects and gluing googly eyes to the nails of three elementary school girls while they laughed in delight. Serving at the Center of Help, a non-profit that assists Latin American immigrant families, seemed like the perfect choice for her because it combined her passion for the Spanish language and engaging with other students. The most impactful service experience she had was at the Center of Help in 2019. Joining the team introduced her to a variety of new service opportunities and taught her how to utilize the Service Portal. Then, in high school, she joined Interact Club and learned about the Student Service Learning Leadership Team with Mrs. She learned about different service opportunities through social media.
